Went on a Saturday night-out with new chums Ricky and Dmitri, both Law students. Since they were both new to London, I dragged them to Leicester Square and Soho where after an unremarkable dinner, we ventured out to look for a comedy club. All the time, Dmitri was cracking anecdotal jokes and stories involving various members of the animal kingdom. Dmitri’s delivery was lacking in vive although the substance of his jokes was nonetheless intellectual.

Anyway, after walking for several miles or so circling around Soho, we found a cheap Comedy act upstairs of an English pub. To our dismay, the act was fully booked. Darn it.

And so, realizing that it would be difficult to find another comedy club without prior booking, we spent a couple of hours playing table hockey instead. It turned out to be a lot of fun–as in funny fun.

We spent another couples of hours just wandering through Leicester Square. It was 8 degrees and I only wore a flimsy shirt after deciding that a full-on coat would cramp my style. Ricky was astonished to find me in that outfit. Why, even Dmitri, who is not unfamiliar with subzero temperatures in Moscow, was wearing a ‘proper’ jacket.

But they soon realized how ‘appropriate’ my outfit was when they saw literally thousands of Saturday night party-goers queueing up in clubs and hopping from bar to bar with only minimal clothing on. One particularly gorgeous ladette was only wearing a backless top, and a micro-mini that would make Kylie Minogue cringe.

A comedy night indeed.
